Dear HST 25th Year Families,
If you are in the Rockville area or out doing errands….how about supporting HST’s CAR WASH!
We are at a new location :
MOBILE GAS STATION 9am to 5pm TODAY!!! *890 Rockville Pike* – *corner of Edmonston Dr. & Rockville Pike *
*It has been harder and harder for our students to do well at our Car Washes*. It seems to be a combination of people being too busy to stop as well as less generous with their donations.
STOP BY and support HST!! Blessings, Marilyn

SH Audition Oct. 4th – Audition Sides attached
Dear 25th Year SH Students,
*The s**ides for your audition are attached to this email*. Please print them and bring them on Oct. 4th.
*You will have AUDITIONS on OCT. 4th. *
You should *read the story of Romeo and Juliet *before October 4th, *or watch one of the movie versions*. *We will not be sending out the cut script until the casting is done. *You can easily get an un-cut version of the play on the internet.
When you prepare for auditions – you should make strong character choices for each of the characters you could be asked to read for. *You do not have to memorize these sides, but you should not treat them as cold readings.*Think about the character’s temperament, motivation, physicality, vocal tone, etc. Come prepared to act!
*Note*: *You are NOT allowed to bring props or costume pieces*. Professional auditions are done with a blank stage and the option of using a chair.
Finally, please remember to be praying for God’s provision and blessings for our 25th Year. We never want to take His help for granted.
Now, let the fun begin!
Blessings,
Mrs. Mullan
SR & SH Troupe Lists
Dear 25th Year SH & SR Troupes,
Your *troupe lists are attached.* Also, please take the time to look at the Carpool Directory (sorted by zip codes) to *see if there are any new families that you can help with carpooling*.
*Reminders:*
– *HST’s Mandatory Parent Meeting* is Friday, Sept. 27. Babysitting available (donations accepted). – NEW families come 10am to Noon. (Policies, calendar, show week, volunteer hours.) – Returning HST families come 1pm to 2:30pm. (Meet Directors, New Info for the year) – Location: Redland Baptist – 6922 Muncaster Mill Rd., Derwood, MD
– *McD’s Kick-Off Fundraiser* – Fri. Oct. 4 – 11am to 1pm. – *First Rehearsal – *Fri. Oct. 4 – 12:30pm to 4pm – NOTE: SR Troupe will probably have a dance audition on Oct. 4th.
We are excited that SR & SH Troupes are doing the original and modern version of (basically) the same story:* Romeo and Juliet* and *West Side Story. *Both of these shows will run longer than 1.5 hours but we are not adding any additional rehearsal time. That means* we need to make every minute count. * So, *come prepared to work! *
First job, *start praying for the success of HST’s 25th Year.* God has blessed us for 24 years, but we don’t take that for granted. So, let’s get this year started with lots of gratitude to God for giving us this amazing program!
Looking forward to getting started! Blessings, Mrs. Mullan
JR & GB Troupe Lists
Dear 25th Year JR & GB Troupes,
Your *troupe lists are attached.* Also, please take the time to look at the Carpool Directory (sorted by zip codes) to *see if there are any new families that you can help with carpooling*.
Reminders: – HST’s Mandatory Parent Meeting is Friday, Sept.
– McD’s Kick-Off Fundraiser – Fri. Oct. 4 – 11am to 1pm. (Acting/JR students can enjoy park after lunch) – *First Rehearsals:*
– GB Troupe – Friday, Oct. 4, 1pm to 4pm – GB meets in double classroom this year – JR Troupe – Friday, Oct. 11, 1pm to 4pm – JR meets in barn this year
In case you missed the show announcement for our 25th Anniversary Shows:
– GB Troupe – Annie JR. – JR Troupe – Disney’s The Little Mermaid JR.
Just as a heads up – the royalty/rent for each of these shows was 3 times as expensive as what we normally spend ($1500 each vs. $500) AND both troupes are at a record low size. SO, *we will need families to really work on selling tickets*. Next week *we’ll be sending out the link to update/add addresses* for our Flier Mail-out. *Please set aside some time to find/enter addresses of families in your church/neighborhood that would enjoy coming to these shows*.
Finally, start praying! God has blessed HST for 24 years, but we never take His providence for granted. Remembering to thank Him for this wonderful program is the best way we can kick off our 25th Year!
Blessings, Marilyn
Acting Class Lists
Dear 25th Year Acting Parents,
The class lists for Acting A & B are attached. To even the class size, we moved HST age 11 students who were 6th Grade to Acting B. We also moved any 2nd year Acting students to Acting B.
Also attached is HST’s Carpool Directory. It is sorted by zip code and includes all of HST’s families to help you determine if there is a family near you that could carpool. Of course, the family near you needs to be taking classes that are similar day/times. To check that, you want to look at the student directory which lists every student and what they are taking. Even if you can’t find a weekly carpool person, sometimes people near you will carpool for HST socials.
Finally, let me give you a couple reminders:
– HST’s Mandatory Parent Meeting is Friday, Sept. 27. Babysitting available (donations accepted). – NEW families come 10am to Noon. (Policies, calendar, show week, volunteer hours.) – Returning HST families come 1pm to 2:30pm. (Meet Directors, New Info for the year) – Location: Redland Baptist – 6922 Muncaster Mill Rd., Derwood, MD – McD’s Kick-Off Fundraiser – Fri. Oct. 4 – 11am to 1pm. (Acting/JR students can enjoy park after lunch) – First Acting Class – Friday, Oct. 11 from 10am to Noon – Location: Redland Baptist – 6922 Muncaster Mill Rd., Derwood, MD
I look forward to meeting all our new parents as well as catching up with returning families on Sept. 27th. Blessings, Marilyn Mullan HST Executive Director
