Non-HST Sponsored: College Application Essay Workshop Presented by Author Carla D. Bass

HST’s Board voted to use HST’s email group to advertise events that meet the following criteria:
– The event has an HST parent sponsoring it. – The event is open to anyone in HST who meets the age requirement. – The event is only a social activity (ie. does not have religious instruction included in the event) OR is a free educational opportunity
You are invited to attend a *college application essay workshop* on Monday, September 16th from 1:00- 2:30. This event will be open to all high school students, and although geared towards writing essays for college applications, the skills taught are applicable to all writing, both in and out of a school setting. This workshop will be conducted by Col. (ret.) Carla D. Bass, author of the award-winning book, Write to Influence! Before writing her book, Col. (Ret.) Bass taught writing technique to thousands of Air Force officers over the course of fifteen years. She has appeared on WUSA’s Good Day Washington <www.wusa9.com/video/entertainment/television/programs/great-day-washington/tips-to-write-a-killer-college-essay/65-8235241> and ABC 7 <wjla.com/features/good-morning-washington/writing-tips-to-help-nail-essays-on-college-applications> to discuss the value of her book and college essay workshops. Parents are encouraged to attend, as the writing tips apply in a professional setting as well. This is a free event, though donations to help cover speaker’s fees are welcome. This workshop will be held at Derwood Bible Church.
