Dear Understanding HST Parents,
REMINDER – *all students must confirm which troupe they are auditioning for by 7pm on Monday, May 13th. *
SH Auditions – 1pm to 4pm
– Check-in sheets will be in the lobby (where check-out sheets normally are) – 1 to 1:15pm SR & SH will both meet in large SR Troupe room with Mrs. Mullan – SH will use the double classroom (on left right past the 2nd floor bathrooms) – Students need 1 to 2 min. Shakespeare monologue that is memorized. – Auditions will be open – all students will be in room while each person auditions. – *After everyone auditions, the director will call people up to read sides*. (Note: “sides” is a theater term for a selection of lines to be used for auditioning). These will be cold-readings – allowing the director the opportunity to “direct” the actors vs. watching prepared material.
SR Auditions – 1pm to 4pm.
– Check-in sheets will be in the lobby (where check-out sheets normally are) – 1 to 1:15pm SR & SH will both meet in large SR Troupe room with Mrs. Mullan – Students will go to the SR Troupe room (also used by Acting B used) – Students need sheet music for their audition song. It should be attached to card stock or other stiff paper to make it simpler for accompanist. – Returning SR student have option of playing musical instrument to accompany themselves. These students do not need sheet music. – Music selection should be from Broadway repertoire. Total time is 90 seconds (pick best 90 seconds of song). – Returning students have *option* of a 1 to 2 min monologue. All other students are *required *to have 1 to 2 min monologue (memorized). – *NOTE:* SR Troupe monologues MUST be taken from classic literature or from a Broadway play. We’ll have acceptable monologues at audition workshop to pick from. – Auditions are not closed (students will watch each other’s audition).
MANDATORY PARENT MEETING INFO
– There is a mandatory parent meeting starting at 1:15pm – If you have students auditioning in the morning, you only need to attend ONE parent meeting. – The afternoon parent meeting is preferred because we’ll talk about Honor Society and Prom. – Parent meeting is on 2nd floor – room right across from the elevator (elevator is on left side of lobby past check-in booth) – Babysitting is provided by our highschool students. – Babysitting will be on 2nd floor. Turn right when you get off elevator. Room is straight ahead at end of hall. – Donations are accepted but not required. – There will be children’s movie playing and ponies/cars.

SR/SH must declare for auditions by Mon. 5/13 – 7pm
In order to audition for Senior or Shakespeare Troupe
*ALL returning students* as well as *anyone auditioning for a spot* MUST
officially declare which troupe you are auditioning for by *Monday, May 13th at 7pm*.
Simply reply to this email with your name and troupe.
Note: This deadline is AFTER the *Audition Class on 5/10 which is mandatory for anyone auditioning for SR/SH for the first time, as well as anyone considering switching from SR to SH or vice-versa*. (This allows students considering switching to have a couple days to make a final decision.)

Used Curriculum Sale – NEXT week during audition workshop
Dear Understanding HST Families,
We have SO much curriculum this year – we’re going to move our used curriculum sale up a week to:
Friday, May 10th from 10am to 2:30pm (during audition workshop).
During the audition workshops *you can peruse the used curriculum in the check-in room (and room right next to it). *
– We do not price curriculum but a*llow parents to “make a donation” for whatever they have selected*. – Occasionally, if a parent is unaware of how valuable a particular item is, we will let them know so they can adjust their donation accordingly, but for the most part HST is happy to bless families with good deals.
You are welcome to bring friends with you to Redland to look at/buy curriculum. *We suggest bringing your own bags or small boxes*. Payment is made by check – made out to HST.
If we still have large quantities after Friday, we may have a 2nd selling day (Friday, May 17th during auditions). After that we are looking for mission churches that would take whatever curriculum is left over. Please let us know if your church has an outreach that would be interested.

Dance Classes are same time – same class you took all year
Dear Understanding HST Dance Parents,
The classes your child goes to next week are the same classes they took all year – which will be on the same day and same time. I realize some students will be moving from Tuesday to Wednesday next year, but next week is still part of this year – so they still come on Tuesday to the class they rehearsed and performed with.
