Dear 25th Year HST Families,
We have come up with several ways to support Ms. Steffi (HST’s Acting B and Shakespeare Director) as she continues her battle with cancer.
1. First, last, and in-between – *PRAYER.* *This is the single greatest need*. We believe God can do all things, but it is our job to humbly ask. So, let’s all ask for God’s strength to help Ms. Steffi through her chemo treatments and then for a successful bone marrow transplant. 2. *Individual Serving Dinners.* 1. Ms. Steffi will have to have a companion with her at all times during the 2 months of daily treatments for the bone marrow transplant. They will stay a block away from John Hopkins. We want to provide meals for the companion. * Anytime you have dinner leftovers that are enough for a single serving *- *please put the leftovers in a disposable container, label it with what is in the container and the date you made it, and then freeze it. * *We will be collecting these single serving meals the week after Thanksgiving.* (We’ll bring coolers so we can keep them frozen.) 3. *Soups/Stews/Broth Team Cooking* – open to all high school students 1. On Saturday, Nov. 23rd from 10am to 1pm, we have 2 volunteer homes that will be making soups & stews for Ms. Steffi. 1. The Hebeisen’s: 21100 Slidell Rd., Boyds, MD 20841 (301-646-2504) 2. The Bolin’s: 10 Bryants Nursery Rd., Silver Spring, MD 20905 (301-421-1362) 2. Highschool age students willing to help should: 1. Reply to this email & say which home you will be going to. 2. Bring a packed lunch with you on Nov. 23rd. 4. *Get Well Cards* 1. *Purchase fun get-well cards* (or hand-make one) and *sign it from “Your HST Family.” * *Please do not write a personal note* (those can be written for the Christmas basket collection on Dec. 20th). 1. These Get-Well cards (or “Thinking of You” cards) will be mailed so that Ms. Steffi receives one per day while going through her bone marrow transplant. 2. Cards can be dropped off in basket on check-in table. 5. *Cash Donations* 1. HST will be collecting cash donations after Christmas for Ms. Steffi.
Many, MANY thanks in advance for your support and prayers. HST is such a caring community. I am always amazed at people’s generosity. Blessings, Marilyn

Follow up notes from THS Party
I want to thank all the Honor Society (THS) members who worked hard to make the Silent Auction Contest party a success. We had 45 Middleschool students attend and it certainly appeared that all had a good time.
Note: We had a few lost & found items: Peacock mask, light blue plush zip-up jacket (size 7/8), polorized sun glasses, reading glasses, nerd glasses.
We have LOTS of wonderful costumes. THS picked a few stand-outs to give a prize to: Genevieve Creitz (Witch) Amelia Marchand (Forky) Hannah Reed (Banana) Anya Laird – Visco Minion Maria & Elizabeth Eckenrode ( Parrot & Pirate) Dennis Franovich & Luke Bolin (Tweedle Dee & Teedle Dum)
Since people left at different times, we did not announce the winners of all the activities. Candy treats for winners will be distributed on Friday.
*Haunted Treasure Hunt:* Runner Up – Maria Eckenrode 1st Place – Danny Singleton
*Marksmanship Nerf Guns:* Runner-Up Tie: John Paul Stell & Lucy Moynihan 1st Place – Danny Singleton
*Tell Me a Story* – we will announce spies on Monday as many student left early and didn’t get to give me their guess for who the spies were. You can email me your guess (tell me their costume if you can’t remember their name).
In addition, students enjoyed Karaoke, Ping-Pong, Darts, Pool, and Smores.
Next up – VARIETY SHOW!! I look forward to seeing lots of great acts audition this week. Be sure to sign up on the Sign-Up Genius AND please read the rules in the header. www.signupgenius.com/go/20f0549aea72ca1fa7-variety

Costume Party Tomorrow!
Dear 25th Year Students HST Age 9 to 13,
Since the Middleschool students won Honor Society’s contest, all students age 9 to 13 (on Dec. 31, 2019) are invited to a Costume Party tomorrow evening. I know you’ll have a great time if you can make it. (HST’s Honor Society always throws a great party!).
Reminder – It is a mandatory costume party! *You don’t have to have anything fancy (make a paper-plate mask!*) but costume parties are most fun when everyone participates.
– We will be taking pictures of you in costume and giving prizes for “Best” Categories
You don’t need to bring food – but do eat dinner before coming. *We’ll have munchies and we’ll be making schmores.*
For those who have phones – my “party policy” is that we leave phones in a basket by the door (like many people leave shoes by the door). You can pick them up the last 15 minutes of the party to take your own pictures but before that we want everyone enjoying the people you are with (not texting or tweeting or surfing…or whatever else phones can do!)
– So – keep shoes on (my floors are never that clean!) but leave cell-phones in the basket by door.
Parent Request – please come to the door to pick up your students. I know it is easier to just text them and ask them to come out BUT I have had situations where students thought they were getting a ride home with friends & then the parent shows up and wonders where their child is – and I have no idea because students most students don’t say good-bye when they are leaving…they just leave. *Selfishly, I love getting to chat a little with parents when they do come to the door and I will feel much better about student safety*.
The party is 7pm to 10pm. You don’t have to come for all of it but we’d love to see you if you can make it.
My address is: 400 Broadwood Dr., Rockville, MD 20851.
Call the business phone is you have an emergency as we can hear that phone even with student “fun” – 310-294-0520.
Blessings, Marilyn
Too much candy – donate it today!
Dear 25th Year HST Families,
If you have leftover candy from Halloween and wish to get it out of the house, please bring it today! HST usually gives a bowl of candy to Redland’s Youth Group as a thank-you for letting us use their space. If we get more than a bowls worth – we’ll use the rest for Silent Auction baskets.
Blessings, Marilyn PS – There will be a container on check-in table for the candy.
