Dear 25th Year HST Families,
It looks like we can make filming work for all but Shakespeare Troupe. We’ve come up with a couple alternative ways to give closure to SH troupe and have sent those options to them to vote on. More details about filming schedules for troupes will come out next week.
I had hoped to have the exact schedule for filming Showcase this week but I haven’t been able to confirm times with all our dance teachers. For now, all I can give you is how we will divide the filming days. I’ll send specific times as soon as I have them.
– Monday, June 8th, Noon to 5pm – Acting Scenes (specific times for each sub-group TBA) – Tuesday, June 9th, Noon to 5pm – Jazz & Tap 1 & 2 levels – Wednesday, June 10, Noon to 5pm – Irish Softshoe, Irish Hardshoe, Broadway Tap 1&2 and Broadway Jazz 1&2 – Thursday, Jun 11, 6pm to 11pm (will be moved to daytime if other event cancels) – Jazz 3&4, Tap 3&4 – Friday, June 12, Noon to 5pm – Broadway Choir & A Cappella Choir & Seniors intro dance for Finale
*Please hold off on giving dates/times to family/friends for viewings. * These will need some adjustment. Also, we’d like to put together a form for you to record responses so you can take a picture of that form to send to our ticket processors.
*We are working on the Zoom rehearsal schedule.* We will do our best to keep all Zoom rehearsals on the same day that the original class was scheduled (although it might be at a different time).
We got a wonderful suggestion (I love our parents!) to have a zoom meeting for parents to go over how we will handle safety issues, as well as answer questions and take suggestions. I need the next 2 weeks to work out filming logistics, but I should be able to switch over to safety logistics the week of May 18th. * Let’s tentatively plan on a 7pm Zoom meeting on Wednesday, May 20th for parents*. If that is not a good time for anyone, please let me know.
Other *HST events that would have been part of our 25th Anniversary Year are now officially canceled.* This includes Pool Party, Prom, 25th Anniversary Dinner. We will try to do something on Zoom in August to celebrate our 25th Year because it is important to me that we honor Linda Harrison before she passes (she has been diagnosed with Lou Gehrig’s disease). For newer families to HST, it was Linda Harrison’s dream that prompted her to ask Suzanne Ellis and myself to start HST. Until this past year, she has served HST faithfully in what way should could. No task was too big or too small for her to tackle.
Info about next year: *Dance classes will be held at Pat Berrend’s Dance Studio: * 9264 Gaither Rd., Gaithersburg, MD 20877 *on Wednesdays.*
The chart for all of next year’s classes and fees are attached. With the financial strain Covid19 is putting on families, we refrained from increasing tuition except for Acting – which increased to cover the increased cost of Make-up kits (included in tuition) and Theatricals which will now meet at the same time as the other highschool programs (12:30pm to 4pm).
We plan to open registration on June 1st. * Early bird pricing will be good until July 1st.* * Prepaid tickets will be included in your TADS payment plans which can now be as long as 10 months. * We hope these changes will help families.
Dance assessment details will go out sometime next week.
Finally, keep praying!! *We need God to guide us through every step of this 25th Year Adventure*. While I am certain He will be 100% faithful, I know my own human-ness. Therefore, please pray that God will send wise counsel to me through the many parents and professionals that will be involved in finishing out this year. Blessings, Marilyn
