SEVEN – To Bid, or not to Bid

To bid….or not to bid….. Do you really have the time to find something to bid on?
Is it worth forwarding the auction link to other people?
The answer is YES…. because bidding is better than tuition increases.
Over the years, it has been pointed out to me that the $15,000 we raise at this auction, requires MANY volunteer hours that could be spent working on our shows. It has also been suggested that a tuition increase of $150 per family would be simpler. However, if we assess $150 per family – that would double tuition for a family who only has a student in tech or choir. On the other hand,if we make a % increase for every class – that would put an excessive burden on families with multiple children doing multiple classes.
SO – *we do NOT want to increase tuition*, but *we DO want to raise money in as painless a way as possible. *
Thus….we hope everyone will support the auction be finding a bargain, or a service, or a delicious baked good that you – or someone you know – could enjoy.
Now – t*o help families determine what their priorities are for bidding* – we have decided to hold the online auction open until WEDNESDAY, at 9pm. *In the next 3 days, you will get all the lists of bidding items** that will be available for auction on the 16th.*
NOTE: If you enter your max bid amount and then click the ‘Proxy’ button, the auction will automatically up your bid (if you are over-bid), until you get to your max. However, if you click the “Exact bid” button, your bid will immediately become your entered amount. If you made this error, contact us and we will fix it for you.

We have put up 100 items that you can sort through by category (*look under the Title of Auction where it says 100 Items and click arrow to get drop-down menu*). Some of the categories we have are:
– Toys – Household – Specialty Service – Thanksgiving Baked Goods (these get delivered Friday, Nov. 22)
You are welcome to share the auction link with family and friends. Let them know that if they win an item(s), they will be sent a link to our website’s PayPal account after the auction closes. * If you forward the link, we ask that you be willing to pick up items for your friends/family at Nov. 16 auction *(*they will have already been paid for*). ‘ HST families who win items will be asked to pay with a check at the Nov. 16 auction. Items will be at auction ready for you to take home. If you wish to purchase toys for Christmas gifts you can arrange to pick up items from Mullan home, but payment will be due at Nov. 16 auction. Note: *We have some AMAZING deals on Playmobil, Barbies, Nerf Guns! *

– Sat., Nov. 16 @ Derwood Bible Church, 16011 Chieftain Ave, Derwood, MD 20855. – Doors open at 4:30pm. Performers go backstage at 5pm. Variety Show starts at 6pm. – Bidding closes at the end of intermission. – Won items can be paid for after show – usually 8:30pm
