Theatrical Show Info – please vote

Dear 25th Year Theatrical Students,
While we couldn’t announce your show with the rest of the 25th Show Season (because you need to vote on it), I didn’t want you to feel left out. So, I’m going to share a specific idea that I’d like you to consider that would fit well with the 25th celebratory season: *New Year’s Eve*. Since yours is the first show of our 25th Season – it would be fun to have Coffeehouse be an elegant New Year’s Eve celebration that kicks it all off. Those of you whose choose the Improv tract -(actors circulating in the audience, interacting with patrons as well as acting out the (scripted) story that we collaboratively put together) could be dressed formally. Those of you who choose the entertainment tract (doing scenes from shows and dance/song on the stage to entertain the patrons) have a good focus for why entertainment is being provided (waiting for the midnight countdown) and there is an easy reason to have the backstage actors come out and join in the finale which would be the “countdown” to the new year and a finale song with everyone singing, “Old Lang Syne”.
Now, I should explain that how Theatricals picks their theme was already going to be different that how Travel Troupe picked the theme, because with the new format, we need to get moving right away on script writing (for improv tract) and scene casting (for entertainment tract). So, instead of taking a full class to brainstorm ideas from students – discussing what’s realistic – and eventually voting, Theatricals will have a couple themes presented to them on the first class to pick between. This is necessary because the director needs to start the year having already done research on what scripted scenes could work well with the theme. So, *if you want, we’ll continue to brainstorm to come up with a 2nd possible theme that would fit well with our 25th Anniversary,* but if you like the New Year’s Eve idea – please vote for it via email (if we get a majority vote for this theme, it will save us some additional time). We are super excited about our new 2-tract structure for Theatricals and are anxious to hit the ground running!
Also, you will be getting an email this week with info about your Go Ape adventure and your class list. You will be asked to pick which tract you wish to be in this year (Improv/Audience or Entertainment). In addition, returning Theatrical students will be asked if they wish to participate in the Director training program (this is only open to returning members). So, start thinking about your goals for this year. It’s time for the creative process to begin! Blessings, Mrs. Mullan
